If you read my last article on why I haven’t been publishing on Medium as much, you’ll know that part of the reason is that I shifted away from writing toward creating videos.

Why I Haven’t Been Publishing On Medium As Often

Our results have been phenomenal since starting on our channel about ten days ago. With five long-form videos and five shorts published, we have generated over 100K views and have met the monetization requirements of 4K watch hours and 1K subscribers.

Today, I will share my video creation process and how you can use the same process to create your own videos.

ElevenLabs Is A Game-Changer

While making ecom ads a few weeks ago, I realized I could put the skills I was using to revive a YouTube channel I had left alone years ago.

For some context, I created a channel in 2018 with two compilation-style videos in which I collect and combine pro-player clips while playing music in the background.

However, I stopped doing this because of all the copyright issues.

I would create a video, upload it, get notified that I was using copyrighted content, re-edit my video to be compliant, and re-upload only to get another copyright flag.

When I finally could upload a video without issues, I would still be notified months later that I wasn’t allowed to use specific clips.

This made me realize that creating highlight videos was not the way to go, and I needed to offer more of my own value.

But before I started making analysis-style videos, COVID hit, everyone stopped playing badminton, and I forgot about the idea.

Making ecom ads recently reminded me about this forgotten project, particularly because of ElevenLabs.

ElevenLabs is an AI company that allows you to create natural-sounding speech from text.

This eliminated one of my significant hurdles of not wanting to be on camera or record myself speaking.

Instead, I can create videos almost like I’m blogging.

Analyze, Write A Script, Find Supporting Clips, and Edit

Just like in my blogging process, I start with an idea.

For my YouTube channel, ideas are generally thoughts about why certain badminton pro players are winning or losing.

Once I have an idea, I begin my research by watching and studying these pro players to eventually develop a thesis.

With a thesis in hand, I then write a script, which is pretty much the exact same experience as writing a blog post.

The only difference is that there’s a bigger emphasis on finding supporting clips, though the process is no different than creating and finding supporting charts for my investment articles.

With all the planning done, the final part is to actually create the video.

I start by generating the speech by copying segments of my script and pasting them into ElevenLabs. I will typically regenerate each segment a few times to ensure I get a realistic-sounding voice.

Then, I paste the AI speech into Adobe Premiere Pro and add supporting clips to the designated sections.

Add in some nice transitions and on-screen elements for visual interest, and that’s it!

Some Disclaimers

Of course, making these videos isn’t as easy as I made it sound. Getting good at video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro is definitely a skill we spent a lot of time working on.

For reference, our first video took us nearly six hours to edit, and this was with an already basic grasp of how to use the software.

Fortunately, video editing has been pretty fun, and we’ve only gotten quicker and better with every new video.

Depending on the video we’re creating, it’ll only take two to three hours compared to the six before.

Additionally, our process relies on our badminton skills, too. We’re not one of those automation channels that uses AI for everything.

Our videos’ value stems from our personal skills and experiences, which I suspect contribute greatly to our explosive growth.

Much of the feedback from our viewers has been that they love the detailed analysis we provide, and we are fortunate to be in a niche where few people are doing what we’re doing.

And if people do want to copy us, they can copy our style, but the actual analysis content and quality will be highly dependent on their own skills as badminton players and analysts.

More Updates On YouTube Coming Soon

We’re super excited to see how much this YouTube channel can earn, provided monetization goes smoothly.

AI’s power has opened up YouTube potential for those who are camera-shy and don’t have high-quality recording setups. With powerful text-to-speech AI tools like ElevenLabs, you’re now able to create videos without needing to record yourself speaking.

Essentially, creating YouTube videos has turned into blogging, but with the addition of video editing skills, which can mean a fantastic opportunity for all my writers out here.

If you’re thinking about making videos but don’t want to record yourself talking, make sure you check out ElevenLabs here!
